Write the resolution as an outcome

“Get fit” is hard to start. “Walk to work twice a week” is easier to picture. Write what would be different if the resolution worked, in one sentence.

Find the first visible step

Ask what you would physically do first. For “read more”, it might be choosing one book and putting it by the bed. For “save money”, it might be opening your banking app and listing three regular costs.

If the first step needs information or someone else, the step is to ask for it.

Choose up to three for this week

Five resolutions started at once usually means five half-starts. Choose up to three first steps for this week and leave the rest on your list for later.

Start one today

Pick the step you can do today and start it. Keep it in view until it is done or paused, then choose the next one. Finishing small steps is what keeps you going.

Do it in a free list

AikenDewit keeps your full list, lets you choose up to three priorities for today and keeps one task in view while you work. It works without an account.
